Wavelene Selman, 89 of Cowen passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. Wavelene was born May 18, 1935 in Bolair and was the daughter of the late Roy and Susan Thayer Woods. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Darrell Selman; brother, Roy Junio Woods; sisters, Thelma Gibson and Vertie Delaney.
Wavelene was a Christian by faith; she enjoyed reading her bible. She was a United States Army Veteran, serving as a hospital nurse. She worked at Webster Memorial Hospital as a nurse and also a teachers aid with Webster County Board of Education. She was a great cook; she loved to play scrabble and spoiling her grandson, Dale.
Surviving are her loving and devoted children; son, David Selman and daughter, Angie Lilly and husband Jody; brother, Carmon Woods and his wife Linda, grandson, Dale Selman and companion Brianna; best friend and caregiver, Sharon Miller; bonus grandson, Danny Bragg; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and also her faithful dog companion Delilah.
Service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Doug Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen. Friends may join the family for visitation 5-8 PM, Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
