In Loving Memory of Olive L. Greene
Olive L. (Moore) Greene, 92, of Cowen, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, December 16, 2024. She was born October 15, 1932, in Birch River, W.Va., to Walter L. and Lula E. (Canfield) Moore.
A 1950 graduate of Cowen High School, Olive lived in Cowen, West Virginia, for 58 years. She retired from Webster County Schools after serving at Glade Elementary and Webster County High School as a cook. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was resilient, thoughtful, caring, giving, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading. Olive always had a deep love for exploring the beauty of West Virginia and had a special fondness in her heart for Camp Caesar and Camp Cowen in Webster County. She had a profound impact on her community, volunteering in a wide range of roles and always stepping up to lend a helping hand. A grandmother to every child she met through her work and volunteering, she cherished her family above all.
Olive is survived by her siblings Dick Moore of Sparta, Tenn.; Patricia Joanne Knapp of Elyria, Ohio; and Anna Mae Moore of Cowen, W.Va. Additionally, she is survived by children Jim (Sheila) Greene of Summersville, W.Va..; Beverly Jolliff of Cowen, W.Va.; Sharron Boggs of Canvas, W.Va.; and Becky (Howard) Young of Fancy Gap, Va.; and grandchildren Wendy Greene of Charleston, W.Va.; Amy (Patrick) Snively of Fairmont, W.Va.; Wally (Marie) Boggs of Fairmont, W.Va.; Michael (Kenzie) Greene of Braxton Co., W.Va.; Joseph (Jamie) Greene of Los Alamos, N.M.; Jennifer (Carless) Seabolt of Canvas, W.Va.; Rochelle (Sean) Lalley of Indian Trail, N.C.; Jodie (Jeremy) Jones of Burlington, N.C.; and Dustin Young of Waxhaw, N.C. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents; sister Oma Lea Cutlip of Elyria, Ohio; son Paul Greene of Erbacon, W.Va., and her granddaughter Sherry Ledsome of Nettie, W.Va.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 2:00 pm, in the 4-H Building at Camp Caesar, Cowen, WV.
