Martha Jean Mathes, 88, of Cowen passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at Webster County Memorial Hospital, Webster Springs, WV. She was born March 18, 1925 in Upperglade to the late Charles L. & Vera Elma Blake Paugh.
Martha lived all her life in Webster County, Attended Halo United Methodist Church and she enjoyed gardening, quilting, painting and crafting.
Martha is survived by her daughters; Linda (Bob) Hamlinton of Newbury, OH., Barbara (Ralph) Nolan of Cowen, Carol Sue (Richard) Rowan of Cowen, Martha Delores (Larry) Armentrout of Cowen, sons; Jim (Carol) Mathes of Cowen, Billy Joe (Sharon) Mathes of Cowen, Allen Ray (Marsha) Mathes of Ravenna, OH. Charles Franklin Mathes of Cowen, sister; Tama Brady of Guysville, OH., brother; William Paugh of Webster Springs, 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, husband Denver Mathes, brothers; Buddy, Denzil and Joe Paugh.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Adams-Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Halo United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Cochran, Rev. James "Oz" Gray, Rev. Craig Williams officiating. Interment will follow in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV.
