Maggie Ellen (Jones) White Selman, 93, of Craigsville, passed away at her home Thursday, August 24, 2017.

Born March 5, 1924, in Dixie, WV, she was the daughter of the late Tolbert Adam and Myrtle Ivy (Nutter) Jones.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry W. White, second husband, Harold Selman; son, Gaylord White; brothers, Donald Jones, George Jones, and Roger Jones; sister, Juanita DeWitt.

Maggie was a Methodist by faith.  She enjoyed flowers, working puzzles, and crocheting.  Many people from many states have the privilege of owning the afghans that she would crochet.  Maggie was a very strong lady, both emotionally and physically, boasting the independence of Rosie the Riveter.  Maggie had a very kind disposition about her and was proud to proclaim “no matter where I go, I can always find a friend”.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, David White of Richwood, Kathie (husband, Virgle) of Virginia, and Kenneth “Butch” (wife, Mary) White of South Carolina; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Dorothy Spencer of Fenwick, Martha Smith (husband, Sherwood) of Hominy Falls, James Jones (wife, Norma) of Oregon, Charles Jones (wife, Sybil) of Alabama, Shirley Dunning of New York, Darrell Jones (wife, Susie) of Oregon, and John Jones (wife, Mary) of Texas; her beloved dog, Ginger; special nephew, Tommy DeWitt; a very special friend and caregiver, Debbie; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Services to celebrate Maggie’s life will be 1PM, Monday, August  28, 2017, at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Teddy Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV.

Friends may join the family for visitation 5-8PM, Sunday evening at the funeral home.
