Kenneth Charles Smith

Kenneth Charles Smith, 82, of Cowen passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston.

Born July 7, 1942 in Arcola, he was the son of the late Kenneth Claude and Lillian Marie (Jones) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Paul and Bobby, and the mother of his children, Shirley Smith.

He was a hard working man, still having been employed as a dozer operator up until his passing. He loved animals, whether it was cuddling up with his dogs, or sitting on his back porch swing watching the birds and squirrels. Kenneth was a family man; he spent most of his time working or with them. He was proud of his children, and fiercely loved them. His grandchildren were his pride and joy; and he enjoyed spending every minute supporting all of the things they were doing.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Martha Spence; sons: Michael (Karen) Smith and Frank Smith; daughter, Brenda (Richie) Jarvis; his favorite children, his furbabies: Stormy, Rocky, and Lucky; his grandchildren: Megan Smith, Cody Rowan, Valerie Smith, Micah Smith, Charlie Jarvis, and Kenzley Smith; brother, Vick (Mary) Smith; and his sister, Shirley (Bob) Ball; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated and no formal services will be held.
