Goldie Marie Russell, 81 of Cowen passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014 after a short illness, surrounded by her family, at Webster County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Coe on February 13, 1933 to General Burb and Rosa Hammons Williams and was a homemaker and Baptist by faith. She loved gardening, cooking, bingo, and spending time with her family. She was a life-long resident of Webster County and an avid deer hunter. Goldie will be dearly missed by her children Jack (Retha) Russell, Carol (Mike) Walker, Mike (Lisa) Russell, and Connie Jean Russell; brother Bruce Williams; sister Bessie Hinkle; grandchildren Angela Stanley, Keith Russell, Joey Russell, Heather Russell, Jackie Russell, Ronnie Bragg, Randy Bragg, Randi Angus, Sammi Carpenter, Cathy Claypool, Tina Gilles, Bobby Gilles, and Charlie Bill Hamrick; 26 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jubert G. Russell whom she married May 1, 1948; brothers Arden S., Dennis, and Bennie M. Williams; sisters Cora M. Beale, Mabel Clara Salisbury, Callie Odessa Short, Audrey L. Short, Ida M. Short, and Freeda Mullins. Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Adams-Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Goldie's life will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Alex Williams Cemetery.
