Gene Edward Cox, Jr, 48 of Cowen passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Raleigh General Hospital after a short illness.

Jr was born December 28, 1975, in Richwood and was the son of the late Gene Edward and Shirley Mae Goff Cox, Sr.

He was a Baptist by faith. Jr loved to make people laugh, he took great pleasure in helping people any way he could and would give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed heavy metal music, fishing, working on cars and computers, but most of all, spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Surviving are his loving long time companion, Misty Carter, siblings; William (Cathy) Cox, Mike (Debra) Cox, Edward (April) Cox, Drusilla (Gary) Anderson, Christina (Chris) Lough and Laurah Butcher any many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Memorial service will be 5:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at McFarlane Chapel Church , Camden-On-Gauley with Pastor Jim Varney officiating. Friends may join the family for a memorial gathering one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Adams-Reed Reed Funeral Home PO Box 247 Cowen, WV 26206, to assist the family with expenses.
