Denver Dorman Lewis

Denver Dorman Lewis, 84 of Cowen, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Denver was born April 4, 1939, in Elkins and was the son of the late Berlin J. and Dacil Lee Carpenter Lewis. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Phyllis Hall, George "Artenus" Lewis, Thurmond Lewis, Walter "Dail" Lewis , and Ray and May Lewis.

 

Denver was a faithful member and deacon at the New Life Baptist Church, Cowen. He retired from Frontier Communication after a 34-year career as a lineman. Denver was a family man and loved them dearly, especially his granddaughters and great-grandchildren; he enjoyed gardening and canning his summer crops; and he also enjoyed camping.

 

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Waugh Lewis, daughter, Charlene (Jim) Tracy, granddaughters, Francheska Nikole Mason and Latisha Ann " Tish" Mason; great grandchildren Quentin Via, Denver Lee Via, Bella Fay Varner, Leann Varner, Jessie James Varner, Layla Sue Varner; siblings, Norlene Frazier, Victor Lewis, Bonnie Bates and Lonnie Lewis; sister in law, Orpha Koski, brother in laws ; Ralph (Bertha Lee) Mullens and Roger (Carolyn) Mullens; his loving fur babies Izzy and Chassie; and also many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. 

 

Graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Handschumacher Cemetery, Upperglade with Pastor Terry Cunningham officiating.
