Delbert Jewel Perrine 91, of Erbacon, passed away peadefully at home surrounded by his family, on Monday July 9, 2012. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Delbert was born March 17, 1921, in Erbacon, son of the late Walter & Hazel Nessellrote Perrine. Delbert was born March 17, 1921 to the late Walter & Hazel Nessellrote Perrine. Delbert, an Army veteran, served at Breckinridge in Evansville, Ind. After he got out of the Army he worked in CC Camp. He was a trustee andmember of the Erbacon Community Church and a Baptist by faith. He was a member of the NRA. He worked in the coal mines for 29 years and retired from Island Creek Coal Company.
Delbert is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, 11 months, 7 days, who he married on July 15, 1944, Josephine Hamrick Perrine; son, Osburn (Sally) Perrine of Erbacon; daughters, Beverly (Freddie) Myers of Mt. Airy, N.C., Deloris Taylor of Mocksville, N.C., Pasty (Abe) Holcomb of Erbacon and Patricia (Arthur) Weese of Wainville; brothers, Osburn "Babe"(Jackie) Perrine of Clearwater, Fla.,and Eli Perrine of Erbacon; sister, Helen Campbell of Buckhannon; 14 grandchilren; 33 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Douglas Perrine; sister Edna "Little Jimmy" Perrine and Joanna Messinger.
Service will be 1p.m. Friday July 13, at Erbacon Community Church with the Rev. Larry Cochran officiating, Burial will follow in Perrine Cemetery, Erbacon.
Adams-Reed Funeral Home is in Charge of arrangements.
