Carrie Autumn Adams Williams walked into the arms of Jesus at her kitchen table at noon-time on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
Carrie was born to the late Ruth Adams Gibbs on August 11, 1949, at Sutton Hospital. She was a 1967 graduate of Richwood High School. Affectionately known by her family as Honey, Baby Doll, Sweetheart, Mom, Nanny, and sometimes as “Carrie Autumn!!”, she was a devoted Pastor’s wife of 42 years, supporting her husband in the ministry. Over her long employment career, Carrie worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, Richwood News Leader, Bright of America, and 23 years as a postal worker, ending as Postmaster at Camden on Gauley.
On December 29, 1979, Carrie and Keith gave their hearts to Christ at an “old-fashioned altar” at Gauley Mills Baptist Church. Accepting Christ as her Savior was the best decision of her life. The next best thing was marrying her husband and the love of her life, Keith, on July 6, 1968. Together with the Lord, they built their home, raised their family on Gauley River for 43 years, then moved to the Little Glade community in 2016.
Carrie leaves behind her best friend and devoted husband of 57 years, Pastor Keith Williams, whom she met at 13 years old. Two daughters and their husbands: Dr. Tara Autumn and Dr. Dan Hartley, Morgantown, WV; Paula Erin Armstrong, MSN, RN; and Pastor Terry Armstrong, Bridgeport, WV. Her pride and joy, four grandchildren: Madelyn Erin Armstrong, a sophomore at West Virginia Wesleyan College; Mallory Autumn Hartley, a senior at Morgantown Christian Academy; Ethan Patrick Hartley, a freshman at Trinity Christian School; and rounding up the rear, Solomon Paul Armstrong, a first grader at West Taylor Elementary School.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph “Sox” and Phelma Autumn Adams.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm, Monday, March 24, 2025, at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Terry Armstrong officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, March 24, 2025, from 11 am - 1 pm. Burial will take place at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Summersville Memorial Hospital and Camden Clinic for their compassionate care, Sherry Roach for all of her help over the years, and neighbors Angie and Larry Hoover. Also, thank you to Matt Pettry and the staff at Adams-Reed Funeral Home for their exceptional kindness and support.
We don’t go to Heaven because we are good people but because Jesus Christ “Paid it All.”
Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
