Alva Arthur Mullens, 74, of Cowen, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport.
He was a coal miner and a US Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam.
Born May 26, 1944 in Craigsville, Alva was the son of the late Everett and Audra (Brown) Mullens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Stephen Cogar; and brothers, Burl Mullens and Garland Mullens.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Alice Mullens; sons, Edward “Eddie” Mullens and James Daniel “Danny” Mullens, both of Cowen; daughter, Juanita “Sue” (Steve) Cogar of Bolair; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Dalton) McCourt; brothers, Eugene Mullens, Arden Mullens, and Elvin “Jug” Mullens, all of Craigsville, Estell (Bonnis) Mullens of Cowen, Elden (Jeanie)Mullens of Tioga; sister, Lavada (Robert) Hodovan of Richwood; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Services to celebrate Alva’s life will be held 2 pm, Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen, with the Rev. Keith Williams and the Rev. Phil Hickman officiating. Burial will follow at Donaldson Cemetery, Cowen.
Friends may join the family for visitation 5-8 PM, Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the Funeral Home.
